A warm welcome to the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities. Here you can explore a rich collection of cultural and everyday objects from the Mediterranean region and the Near East. Then and there becomes here and now.

The Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities (Medelhavsmuseet) is located at Fredsgatan 2, right in the heart of central Stockholm. The nearest subway stations are Kungsträdgården or T-Centralen. Buses 62 and 65 stop at Gustav Adolfs Torg. Buses 3 and 52 stop at Tegelbacken.

Parking is available at a parking garage on Regeringsgatan, and a few parking spaces can also be found near the Opera House.

This pass costs 200 SEK and gives you unlimited access for 365 days to the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities and the Museum of Ethnography.

This pass costs 350 SEK and provides unlimited access for 365 days to the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities, the Museum of Ethnography, the Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities*, and the Museum of World Culture.

*Please note: The Museum of Far Eastern Antiquities is currently closed for renovation and is expected to reopen in 2026.

Day Ticket

A day ticket costs 160 SEK, is available at the museum reception, and grants access to the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities for one day.

FREE ENTRY

  • Free entry applies to children and youth up to 19 years old.
  • The Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities also offers free entry to all visitors on Wednesdays from 6 PM to 8 PM.
  • Free entry is available for asylum seekers with a valid LMA card or UT card issued by the Swedish Migration Agency.
  • Free entry is also granted upon presentation of a valid membership card for ICOM or Sveriges Museer.

Getting here

Medelhavsmuseet/the Museum of Mediterranean and Near Eastern Antiquities is situated at Fredsgatan 2 in central Stockholm, adjacent to Gustav Adolfs Torg. Nearest tube stations are Kungsträdgården and T-Centralen. Bus routes 62 and 65 stop at Gustav Adolfs Torg. Bus routes 3 and 52 stop at Tegelbacken. Car parks can be found at Regeringsgatan and the Opera House.
